Hopefully, this will be the last weather related schedule change of the year. The timing and uncertainty of the weather this week have been a challenge.
We were planning a 10:00 start on Thursday, due to the cold temperatures. In order to do a 10:00 start, we would need to have buses on the road by 8:30 and at that time of the morning, air temperatures are near 20 below zero. At noon tomorrow, the temps would be tolerable., but that doesn't help us early.
We are going to just call it a week and cancel classes for Thursday. While it will be a decent day by afternoon, (in comparison with recent days), having people moving around at a 20 below zero air temperature makes me nervous..
Friday is a scheduled day off for students due to a teacher training day, so we will plan to see all students back on Monday when temperatures are expected to reach the mid-50’s.
Once again, no school in Sutton on Thursday due to the weather and Friday due to a teacher training day. Thank you again for your patience and understanding this week and have a safe , warm, and restful weekend.

It has been a tough week for making weather related decisions.
We are planning a 10:00 start on Wednesday and Thursday, with no morning pre-school due to the extreme cold and some roads that have not been completely cleared.
Please make sure that your children are dressed in layers and if they drive to school, to make sure they take it slow and avoid any drifted roads. It is always the parents’ perogative as to whether they send their children on days with weather concerns.
Tomorrow, we will evaluate conditions for Thursday morning, as the coldest temperatures this season may force additional changes. Please stay tuned!
For right now, a 10:00 start tomorrow and Thursday with no morning pre-school and no before school activities. Thank you!

The NSAA allows very little flexibility in when to play tournament games. That being said, the subdistrict girls' basketball game versus Sandy Creek WILL be played tonight (Tuesday) at Cross County at 4:00 pm. Time is earlier to avoid colder temperatures.
The building remains closed for all activities in Sutton.

The weather service has increased their confidence in snow chances for the morning and after driving the roads this evening, the smart thing to do is to close school for tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th.
We will announce tomorrow whether or not the girls will play their subdistrict basketball game at Cross County tomorrow evening.
Sutton Public Schools is closed tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th.
Stay safe and stay warm!
Predicted snowfall amounts through tonight and tomorrow morning are varied, but it is definitely going to be cold. Windchills each of the next three mornings will hover around 25 degrees below zero.
We are planning for a 10:00 start tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th. Depending on the amount of snow we get prior to that time will dictate if that needs to be adjusted.
There is a real possibility that we will start late on Wednesday and Thursday due to early morning windchills. A couple of hours may allow the sun to warm things up enough to make it bearable. Keep in touch for updates over the next couple of days regarding that possibility.
Once again, ALL before school activities are cancelled for this week and we will have a 10:00 start on Tuesday with no morning preschool.
Keep holding on to the expected 50 degree days next week! Good old Nebraska weather!

There will be no youth wrestling practice tonight, Monday Feb. 17th due to weather.
